24 makes another return after the explosive miniseries event Live Another Day. With primarily a new cast and one returning star. Does Legacy live up to the legacy of 24 (no pun intended)? For the most part, yes it does.
Corey Hawkins plays Eric Carter the last survivor of a Rangers squad that is being hunted down by a terrorist organization. With nowhere else to turn, the man asks CTU to help him save his life while also stopping one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.
One of the things that always worked with 24 was the cast. Legacy follows suit, with Corey Hawkins taking the lead. The cast does an awesome job from Corey Hawkins to Miranda Otto with the drama that’s unfolding in front of us. Carlos Bernard makes a welcome return as Tony Almeida. After being MIA for three years and making an appearance in the short 24: Solitary. I won’t go into any spoilers. Let’s simply say it’s awesome to see Carlos playing Tony again.
The action is top notch. Some of the set pieces are really elaborate. The fights are also well choreographed, Corey is believable and brutal. One scene in particular was set up nicely and looked wonderful.
Actually the only issue I had with Legacy is in its story. While I’m glad that it’s a lot like the original. But it’s too much like it. Same story line about terrorists, another major attack and someone in CTU is a traitor. Guess what? Even though the show’s script isn’t unique and it’s sticking with the same rhythm. Legacy is still exciting and thrilling.
24: Legacy might not be unique, but it’s still one hell of a ride.
