Is Rogue One the prequel we’ve been waiting for?

Finally this week we get the release of the first standalone Stars Wars film Rogue One. Just in case some of you are wondering. This idea of a standalone film was originally conceived by Lucas not Disney. Rogue One is about a small elite team of rebels. Attempting to steal the plans of the Death Star. A weapon that possesses the power to destroy planets.
I’m surprised to say that this prequel has none of what made the original prequels cringe worthy. For example, horrible dialog and acting. This is the film we fans have been waiting for.

It goes so well with the original film. That it made me want to see a New Hope again.

The story is pretty much what you would expect. A great deal of action, drama and a bit of humor. The first thing you are going to notice other then there is no opening crawl. This film is a good deal darker and not as funny, when compared the other films in the saga. There is some humor, it isn’t forced and fits well into the movie.

All of the actors do a great job of portraying these characters. I personally would have liked the Donnie Yen’s character to have been fleshed out a bit more. Other than that the writers did a good job of developing the leads and making us care. Another thing the writers added a great deal of Easter eggs from both trilogy’s. So keep a look out for those.

What steals the show is the all the action and cinematography. The action is furious and looks terrific. The entire finale is a vision to behold. One last thing to add Darth Vader is awesome. He might not have a great deal of screen time. But believe me, it’s worth the price of admission.

With a great blend of action and drama. Makes this one of the best Star Wars films since Empire Strikes Back.
